Day 11: Spitzkopje – Cape Cross Sea Lions – Swakopmund

Day 11: Spitzkopje – Cape Cross Sea Lions – Swakopmund
Breakfast prepared by the team. Drive towards Henties Bay, then to Cape Cross. Located 60 km north of the coastal town of Henties Bay, Cape Cross is a nature reserve where we can admire one of the largest sea lion colonies in Namibia. This cape is also an important place in human history. Here, the Portuguese explorer and sailor Diaz left a trace of his visit in the 15th century by erecting a cross, which has now been reproduced in granite.
Picnic lunch. We continue along the coastal road to Swakopmund*.
Free afternoon (museum visits or various optional activities: quad biking in the dunes, 4×4 excursion to Sandwich Harbour, scenic flight over the coast and desert).
Dinner at leisure. Overnight stay at the Pension A La Mer or Royal Guesthouse (or equivalent).
Note: Depending on runway conditions, arrival in Swakopmund may be mid-afternoon, and in this case, the optional overflight is not guaranteed.
* Swakopmund, a city with a rich history and a popular seaside resort on the Atlantic Ocean, is a favorite with Namibians. Built at the beginning of German colonization as a port, this charming city, built according to the principles of Germanic architecture, has retained its unique character over time and through political changes. Bavarian pastries, lager brewed using traditional German methods, and the language are just some of the things that make Swakopmund a city that remains firmly rooted in its past.
Transfer: approximately 280 km, approximately 3.5 hours
