Day 6: Kaokoland – Epupa Falls – Himba Village

Breakfast prepared by the team. We begin our trek north through Kaokoland to Epupa Falls, located on the banks of the Kunene River. Picnic lunch. In the afternoon, we set out to meet the Himba villagers: The Himba people, part of the Herero ethnic group, are concentrated mainly in the desert and inhospitable Kaokoland region in northwest Namibia. This pastoralist people, with their archaic customs, has taken advantage of the inaccessibility of their territory for decades to preserve traditions that have now disappeared elsewhere in the world. Few in number, only a few thousand, nomads constantly searching for new pastures, proud and beautiful, they are unaware of a way of life that, unfortunately, is rapidly catching up with them. We will have the opportunity to meet these nomads on the Kaokoland trails. The encounter is subject to certain moral rules of respect.
Then, we walk to the observation point to admire the Epupa Falls at sunset. Set up camp for two nights, followed by dinner prepared by the team. Overnight at the Omarunga Epupa Camp.
Transfer approximately 180 km, approximately 3 hours
